The mission was clear and simple: to collect debris and trash from the bustling business corridors, the tranquil parks, and the tight-knit neighborhoods that comprised Northeast and North Minneapolis. It was a collective effort to restore the natural beauty and cleanliness of these spaces, reflecting the deep-rooted commitment of the community to its well-being.

 

 

 

For over two and a half decades, the tradition of "Weed it and Sweep" had become synonymous with community spirit and solidarity in Northeast and North Minneapolis. Every first full weekend in May and October, this remarkable event brought together hundreds of volunteers from diverse backgrounds and affiliations. It was a time when businesses, local schools, faith communities, and community service organizations set aside a few hours of their busy lives to give back to their beloved neighborhoods.

 

 

 

 

This year marked a particularly special occasion as the employees of K&K Metal Recycling, a family-owned business that has been an integral part of the community for years, volunteered their time and effort. Their involvement was a testament to the event's significance and the way it resonated with all corners of the community. It was a reminder that "Weed it and Sweep" was not just a cleanup event but a powerful symbol of unity, pride, and love for Northeast and North Minneapolis.
